May I let you in on a secret?

I have no idea what the fuck I’m doing with my JOTs. They’re mostly about random, disconnected things. No real thread that ties them all together.

And I suppose that’s like me in real life – fleeting interests in vastly different things, some eclectic life and career choices, each based on my most recent whim. A friend who is somewhat like me – having tried his hand at a number of disparate jobs – told me that someone once saw his CV and went, “oh, so you’re like a monkey, swinging from one branch to another?”

But back to writing about writing. When you read a JOT I’ve written, could you tell it’s me? Without looking at the sign off that is

Before I started working with the folks at The Kable, I hadn’t really written in a while. And I’ve almost never written unless there was a looming deadline. With no prompt, I don’t know what I would write about. I don’t know if I would write at all. All I know is that I have churned out something every day for these past many weeks. And maybe over time, a theme will emerge.

For now, I could make some fancy schmancy argument about the death of the author and how you shouldn’t be looking for congruence in my posts in the first place. But instead, I’ll share with you notes from a life in words. Jerry Pinto’s life, specifically.

He makes these very wholesome reels about the process of writing, finding stories, telling them and lots more. I won’t tell you too much. I’ll just direct you tosomeniceones, and Instagram will lead you to the rest.

And yes, I’m the aforementioned monkey. But that also means that I’m a quick learner, and I can write about a lot of different things. Maybe that monkeying around was worth it?
